We had a great New Years. The only thing we did different this year as compared to previous years is hang out at Ko Olina. We hardly ever go to the west side of the island, and have only been to Ko Olina a couple of times in the ten years we have lived here. Well, on New Years weekend we went there two times! They were having a big New Years Eve firework show, and Oly really wanted to check it out. I knew we wouldn't make it to midnight with Jonny and Sophia, but went anyways. They opened a new Disney resort up next to the hotels and it is amazing. We really want to go back and stay for a weekend. The kids made it until about seven o'clock and started to get grouchy. He headed home and ended up lighting fireworks with our good friends the Ramos'. Here is a picture of Jonny and Illiana playing with fireworks.
Oly and I tried to stay awake until midnight, but he couldn't make it and fell asleep at 11:45. Pretty lame right? lol. I was in bed reading my nook, thinking it would be a quiet way to start the new year. Boy was I wrong. At midnight there was sooo much noise, I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone! Personal fireworks were banned last year, so I really wasn't expecting it. Needless to say, Oly woke up in a fright. We opened our windows and had our own firework show right from the comfort of our room. Who needs Ko Olina?
We have a tradition to go out to breakfast on New Year's day. Since New Years day was on Sunday this year, we went out on Monday. We hit up Denny's, and actually had a GREAT time. I think our kids are finally at good ages to take to restaurants. Jonny actually sits in his seat, and Sophia chows down on anything in eyesight. (She LOVES to eat.)
